Similar to the others posted. WH4L was excellent until it was acquired by the new owner and started switching over to a "new platform" in Feb 2010. I can't even begin to list the frustrations.
My main beef is with the new support people, chat support used to be able to fix most minor issues. Now almost any question is referred to "Level 2" support. Level 2 support just finally got a cms setup properly after over a month of going back and forth. In this time they told me the issue was resolved 6 different times..
I first fled ReadyHosting who was acquired by the mother company with similar issues. There are a couple of forums dedicated to the frustrations out there. I've lost weeks of work dealing with the new Webhost4life, please research very carefully before considering them.
I started with WebHost4Life around 2005 and was mostly satisfied with them until Feb 2010. Their support response time was adequate (usually less than 6 hrs to answer a ticket) and their services good. I have 5 accounts with them using shared server services and running 2-8 domains and multiple subdomains per account. They limited the number of domains to 8 per account.
In Feb 2010 something changed and they changed the server setup. I think they have moved to a server farm type of setup but my tech knowledge is limited. Now I can no longer set file/folder permissions myself and there are a few other setup aspects I cannot handle myself.
Worse, though, is their tech support has become seriously deficient. I moved two domains to one of the new server setup to learn the ropes. The first ported over with just a few adjustments, which tech support helped me work through. The second has been a nightmare. The site was down for most of the first 6 days and most of that was due to lack of tech support response. First level support does not now handle the type of issue they used to and the next level takes 1.5-3 days to respond to a ticket.
Needless to say, I am now looking for a different hosting service after 5 years with WebHost4Life.
I have had mulitple sites hosted with webhost4life (30+) since 2005. Until Jan 2010 I was very happy with the service and ability to solve any issue rapidly and effectivly. However since 2010 their tech support has proven itself to be incompitent. One site we have that uses standard MS Ajax components fails to succeed in any ajax calls and only returns scripting errors. A help ticket that was opened 3 weeks ago, still hasn't seen resolution. We have also mulitple issues with digital certificates. They have been unable to install one of the server which is having an impact on all ecommerce activities.
I would not recomend using this company unless you only have basic html and even then.. GOOD LUCK
Webhost4life recently migrated several of my client websites to new servers. The database connections were lost and passwords no longer worked. They said I had the wrong passwords. The passwords were fine until they migrated the website. It took days and several follow-up tickets to resolve the database problem last week. I updated the database again Friday and the connection was again lost and had to be reset on their end. I never received any notification from webhost4life that my ticket had been resolved. I do not recommend this company. They have instructed their chat help people to talk in circles and ask the same questions over and over again. I will never sign up another client of mine with them.
